Cannon Firing Ceremony

It is the signal to the end of the fasting period and the end of the quiet daytime period of Ramadan. On the mark of the cannons, every corner of the city starts buzzing with life, aromas, lights, and more. If you find yourself in Dubai during this special time, make sure not to miss out on this unforgettable experience.

Dates

11th March - 10th April

Venue

Burj Park, Al Baraha, Al Mankhool, Dubai City Walk, Madinat Jumeirah, and Expo City Dubai

  • When: The cannon firing ceremony starts on the first day of Ramadan where two shots are fired simultaneously to declare the beginning of Ramadan. Then, it is fired once every day around the sunset during the holy month to signal the breaking of fast. On Eid Al Fitr, cannons are again fired twice in a row to announce the end of Ramadan and the start of the festivities. Finally, the cannons are fired twice in a row for the last time in the year on Eid morning.

  • Timing: This section will be updated with the nearing of the sacred month.

  • Experience: The cannon firing is the most anticipated Ramadan event by both locals and travellers alike. You can experience the grand spectacle of the cannon firing into the sky whose sound echoes all over the place. It is also a time when you can watch the city slowly transform into a festive mood from its daytime conservative state.

Note: You may experience traffic rushes during this hour as the locals hurry up to get back home or to Iftar parties to break their fasts.

Burj Khalifa Shows

As the city is alive with lights, aromas, and celebration, there is no better place to be than the observatory deck of Burj Khalifa to soak it all in. You can even have a dining experience close to the sky with the restaurant stop building. If you time it right, you will be able to experience the sun setting, the light show, and the fountain show all in one day.
